Hello Ski Friends, I am pleased to announce three
new ski opportunities for the coming year. I hope all of you have had a great summer and are ready to go for another season of fun in the mountains. We had a good dose of snow over the weekend here in the Elk Range so winter is ramping up. 1. December 28-30 2007: Aspen Highlands Freeski Camp with Chris Davenport and Chris Anthony:
This new camp has been in the works for a couple years and Chris and I are proud to finally offer three days of steep skiing, instruction, and guiding at one of North America’s premier “big mountain” resorts.
This camp is limited to ten skiers only and is for expert skiers looking
to take their skiing to the next level. The three day camp includes lift
tickets and one on-mountain lunch at Cloud Nine Restaurant. Cost: $1125.00
Contact Chris Davenportfor more info or reservations.
2. The 5th Annual “Ski With The Superstars Camp” at Portillo, Chile
is back once again, August 16-23 2008: The best week of skiing in the Southern
Hemisphere is back and better than ever. Coaches will once again include Chris
Anthony, Shane McConkey, Mike Douglas, Ingrid Backstrom, Wendy Fisher, and
assistant coach/ chief motivator Jesse Hoffman. Frank Shine will be back as
our videographer. You can take advantage of 2007 prices at Hotel Portillo by
booking your trip before October 31, 2007. The 2008 Superstars Camp costs $1950
for the week. To book your spot for 2008 contact Chris
Davenport. Take a look at 2007 camper Sven Gustafson’s blog at sven360.blogspot.com
3. Antarctica 2008, “The Ski Trip of a Lifetime” Join Chris Davenport aboard the Lyubov Orlova for a November cruise from Ushuaia, Argentina to the Antarctic Peninsula for 8-10 days of ski touring, wildlife viewing, exploration of un-skied peaks, and unrivaled adventure, October 29-November 10, 2008 (dates may change by a day or two.) Prices have yet to be finalized, but the attached PDF gives you an idea of cabin costs and options aboard the boat. Additional costs include guide fees, hotels in Argentina, and flights to South America. I hope to have a group of 8-10 clients with me to enjoy this exotic ski adventure. All clients should be comfortable with ski touring gear and be willing to “earn your turns” Also, Since I left Portillo in early September I have been hard at work on my new book, “Ski The 14ers; A Visual Tour Of Colorado’s 14,000-foot Peaks From The Eyes Of A Ski Mountaineer.” The book is a 152 page hard-cover book almost as large as the ski project itself. Over 400 color photos from eight different photographers and plenty of exciting writing grace the over-sized pages of the book. I am very proud of how it turned out and am sure that many of you will find it a strong motivator to get out into the mountains and climb and ski your hearts out. I am honored that Lou Dawson has lent his intimate knowledge of the peaks to the book with a wonderful forward on the history of ski mountaineering in Colorado. "Ski The 14ers" will be ready to ship next week, but is available now for advanced orders from www.wolverinepublishing.com/ski_14ers.html
The book is $49.95 plus shipping and is only available from Wolverine
Publishing until 2008, when it will be widely available in stores. A portion
of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Colorado Fourteeners
Initiative (www.14ers.org)
and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (www.avalanche.state.co.us)
KASK HATS USA is still going strong so check out the website www.kaskhats-usa.com for the coolest ski beanies and accessories in the business.
I hope you all have a fantastic winter and I’d be thrilled if our paths crossed in the mountains sometime soon.
Tips Up!
